You know google currently can track everything you search across youtube facebook and the search engine itself?
I'm many times more worried about google as they actually have a nearly a monopoly on the internet right now. They own almost all of the most traveled to sites on the internet and now a major browser.
Cuz nobody's ever delayed a game from the date at the end of the trailer before.
Have you not played GeoW 2? You can shoot all those dudes running around on the ground. They're harder too hit because they're so far away, but they are all killable.
I don't know where you're reading from. Carmack has said repeatedly that the PS3's memory architecture isn't very good for megatextures. He's estimated that it takes the designers and developers twice as long to complete the content for the PS3 because they have to deal with split memory as well as lower streaming times from the disk (important to megatextures), which is 9mb/s on the PS3 and 15 mb/s on the 360.
The only issue he has with the 360 is disc size, but moreso, the adde...

would have been cool, but it doesn't look as bad as any of you are making it out to be. It's just a red 360. The halo 3 special edition was actually butt ugly.
is amazing. I can't see it being outdone without other engines stealing heavily from it. Depending on how they do their lighting, it could very well become standard.
not just the method.
Of course as apparently everyone in this thread lives in texas and has been to Wall Wireless you'd all know exactly what they're producing.
You've seen about 1/4 of a filed complaint and a patent. It's not your place to judge. Let the courts decide before you run into Wall's corporate headquarters with a bomb strapped to yourself.

the title of the patent is "Method and apparatus for creating and distributing real-time interactive media content through wireless communication networks and the internet"
key words are method AND apparatus as well as the part where it's used for distributing real-time interactive media. The title is a pretty accurate description of what it is.

@"Give an Xbox 360 the same time, money, resources and manpower and we will see a great looking game as well."
Like Halo 3 right? Plenty of time, plenty of resources, plenty of manpower. Plenty of average."
Halo 3 started development just before halo 2 was released and had a development budget (not advertising budget) estimated at 30 million.
That's 3 years with a 30 million dollar price tag compared to 5 years with an estimated 60 millio...
that just because his area of work was specifically on the power pc cores means he knows nothing about the cell is ignorant.
He's a 20 year expert in high performance processors. Of course, I'm sure 20 minutes on google makes the expertise you have many times more than him. You'll forgive me when I take his word before yours.
I patent an advanced sensor to be used in molecule smashers. Something like that could cost millions of dollars just to produce.
Should I have to spend that million dollars before I hold a patent, even though I came up with a totally revolutionary way to detect pieces of molecules and atoms. Would it be fair for some big corporation too glance at my notes and throw money at the problem and steal the patent? You don't even know they didn't have working devices with the thing in it...
They still have a case regardless. I don't agree with the damages they think they should be awarded, but I still think they have the patent and have every right to sue.
I wouldn't judge too quickly as it's very possible they only recently found out about it.
Either way, they still hold the patent, and them's the breaks.
They claimed the patent in 2001. The PSP and the DS didn't come out till 2004. The degree might not be as severe as they say, but he has a right to protect his inventions.
Texture quality is one of the last things you'll notice, and gears actually has some of the best textures this gen.
compared to killzone and uncharted, it has better textures, worse lighting (in most cases by far), worse models (I'm not sure if they actual numbers or smaller, or if they just weren't as smart with where they used their polys), worse physics, and worse attention to detail.
You will rarely be able to tell texture quality now days without staring at thin...
cuz the writing was horrible, but that video was hot...
the dynamic lighting in this game is just amazing.
that's why we have the patent system, and it is very important to a lot of people.
Some people can abuse it, but if companies as big as sony with literal fleets of lawyers don't do anything to protect themselves, I can't really blame the little guy.
the tech behind idtech 5 is more impressive than almost anything I've seen on either console platform so far. What they're planning for idtech 6 will be just ridiculous.
That said, no xbox 360 game has had the development time or money spent on killzone 2. It's not really a fair comparison to compare a game with 60 million + and 6+ years spent on it to games that have 2-3 year dev cycles and 20-30 million spent on them. I'd wait for alan wake and project offset (if it's still com...
I never understood why M$ didn't offer much premium priced content to gold subscribers. It just adds more incentive to have a gold account, and doesn't lose too much money as u gain a paid subscriber.
Blu-Ray was easily the biggest risk, and the future of the PS3 rested in it almost completely for the first year. The PS3 was the cheapest blu-ray player for it's first year, and a lot of people bought it just for that.
Most importantly, the future of sony itself rested heavily on blu-ray. A failed format leading to a failed console would have been devastating to it's investors, especially with the amount of other competitors delivering pretty solid electronics now.
how are whoppers supposed to ever sell as well as big macs if there are more mcdonald's around?
They could team up with Sonic, Jack in the Box, and Wendy's.
